Group Insurance Vision  

Group vision coverage is most frequently included in a company's group medical plan and/or as part of (or a 'rider' on) one of the group's ancillary lines of coverage. Group vision can, however, also be sold on a stand-alone basis. Group vision plans provides partial or complete reimbursement and/or discounts on the cost of:

  • eye exams
  • glasses
  • contact lenses

When considering the need for a group vision plan, it is best to first examine the medical and/or auxiliary lines of coverage that are currently in force, as often employers and/or employees are not even aware of or utilizing the vision benefits they already have (especially since many group health plan programs include vision, laser or lasik discounts as part of their healthy lifestyles or wellness programs). If no vision is currently in place or if adequate coverage is absent, it often might be able to be added on to an existing plan for little or no cost. If a freestanding vision plan is needed or desired, there are several carriers that provide comprehensive vision packages and options for consideration.
